Miskey and Miskey Infused are availalble at select retailers (bars and liquor stores) in the Southeast section of Minnesota (Adams, Austin, Rochester and Winona areas). Distribution is a fluid process, meaning we are consistently adding additional retailers. We have also seen our product sell out at times.
We would suggest calling ahead to the retailers in your area to ensure they have product on hand before going to the retailer with hopes they will have it on hand. Many retailers in the aforementioned area have our product in stock.
As a new, small business our customers can inquire about our product at any retailer. We are distributed though Schott's distributing and many retailers in Southeast Minnesota work with Schott's and can easily obtain our product should you request it.
We can not simply sell directly to a customer (not even by mail) nor can we deliver product directly to our retail partners. We have a great working relationship with our distributer, Schott's and they are happy to fulfil orders made by the retailer.
We have received numerous requests across the state and across the country regarding how/where to buy Miskey. We continue to work towards growing our distribution to make Miskey available in more markets. At this time Miskey is only available at select retailers in Southeast Minnesota, specifically retailers whom buy products from Schott's distributing.
Sapthre Maple Syrup is available at select retailer in Adams and Austin areas. We do not currently sell our product by mail. We will continue to work towards posting a list of retailers that MAY have our product on hand for purchase. Please know our product does sell out at times and may be unavailable at the listed retailer. Please contact us at Sapthre@gmail.com and we will get you the most up to date listing we have available or suggest a retailer near you that we have verified has product on hand.
For bureaucratic purposes, miskey is labeled as a “maple spirit”: “We don’t use grain, so we can’t call it bourbon or whiskey,” Sathre explains. “We can’t call it rum, since rum has to be made with sugar cane.” Name aside, taste wise miskey falls between the two. “When you open the barrel you can smell the sweetness, kind of like a rum, and you’ll have the smoothness of a bourbon. It’s the best of both worlds.” In addition to the original version, there’s a sweeter maple syrup-infused variation. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback,” says Sathre. “People like it on the rocks, or they dilute it down with water.”
From alcoholprofessor.com writer Stacy Brooks:
In Minnesota, maple sap typically flows from about mid-March through mid-April, when daytime temperatures are in the high 30s to mid-40s and nighttime temperatures are below freezing. At Sapthre Maple Products’ 24-acre maple grove, sap is collected from about 2,400 taps connected to an 8-mile long pipeline and vacuum system.
Next, the sap is converted into maple syrup—first by removing 70-80% of the water via reverse osmosis, and then cooking down the concentrated maple sap into maple syrup. It takes about 30-40 gallons of maple sap to produce one gallon of pure maple syrup.
Unlike spirits such as whiskey and gin, which are produced from starchy grains that need to be milled and pressed into a mash, the maple syrup can be converted directly into a wort that will be fermented by yeast to produce alcohol. Next, the wort is distilled into an 80-proof spirit, and aged in barrels for a year.

We are a small, farm based operation with very limited facilities. In laymen's terms, we don't have much parking, even walking spaces, restrooms or even space for groups to stand depending on where we are at with production.
No. At present we do not have a tasting room or cocktail room. We do not offer tours and do not do tasting at our distillery. While we would love to do ALL of these things, we are very new and a very small farm based operation. We will continue to update you if this should change.
We currently don't ship any of our products. While we would LOVE for you to enjoy our product and appreciate your interest we are new, small and local. We just don't currently have capacity to take this on at this time.
Yes. We have donated a lot of product in the past and anticipate this will continue in our future.
Contact us at email@example.com to inquire about how we can work together.
We have in the past and we will in the future. email us your ideas at firstname.lastname@example.org We actually have a few things "on order" and we are looking to expand our product line in the very near future. More to come.
YES! Coming soon we will have a variety of cocktail ideas. At present the canvas is pretty open to experimentation and will likely to continue to be wide open as we gather feedback from our customers.
A few products that have gotten rave reviews are:
1. Cream, coffee and Miskey
2. Any soft drink with Miskey or Miskey Infused. One major soft drink company is offering a maple added cola to the menu at IHOP. We think you do-it-yourselfers could do it one better and perfect this flavorful combination using Miskey or Sapthre Syrup to make a great tasting beverage.
3. Cream, coffee liquor and Miskey. One option is equal parts of all 3.
4-Miskey with rootbeer or cream soda tastes fabulous.

WCCO News story on Sapthre Maple Products
Our history started a few years ago with an idea of harvesting maple. As a generational farmer in Adams, MN, located in South East Minnesota, Kevin began "Sapthre Maple Products" with the idea of harvesting Maple. The idea to harvest Maple has evolved into 2400 taps on a 24 acre Maple grove of Maple trees utilizing an 8 mile long pipeline and vacuum system.
As we worked to improve this process, we explored ideas on how to best utilize the harvest and the idea of producing a sweet tasting beverage began as an idea. This idea was put to the side in early 2020.
The COVID pandemic hit and Sapthre Maple products had obtained licensure as a Micro distillery. Kevin was approached with the idea of using his operation to produce hand sanitizer as there was a severe shortage of sanitizer. Sapthre Maple produced hand sanitizer and while some was sold, much of this product was donated.
As the demand for hand sanitizer subsided, Sapthre Maple products returned its focus to producing Syrup and perfecting the process of making a Maple Spirit, named Miskey.
Miskey has two varieties. The infused variety "infuses" or adds maple syrup to our original Miskey Maple Spirit to offer an even sweeter flavor.
Syrup is currently only available at select retailers in the Austin and Adams area.
Miskey and Miskey infused are new to retailers. We have a distribution partner, Schott's Distributing. Due to laws on Micro Distilleries, distribution of Miskey is more complex. A distributer is required and sales direct to customer or retailer are prohibited. Fortunately we have a wonderful working relationship with our distributer, Schott's.
While we are learning the "spirits business" we understand Miskey isn't available in every establishment you may frequent. We've even had situations where someone bought the last bottle and the store didn't have any in stock at the time another customer came in to purchase our product. Retailers have limited space to "back stock" and being new and small, we apologize if you "went looking" for Miskey and the store didn't have it for sale.
Rest assured we would LOVE to have Miskey available anywhere Spirits are poured or sold by the bottle. The more YOU, our customers, ask about its availability, share our story and enjoy our products, the more we're able to work with our distributer on partnerships with local retailers.
We want YOUR word of mouth endorsement to assist us as we work to be more widely available. We are currently sold in on and off sale premises (bars and liquor stores). Don't hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org as a customer seeking the product or as a buyer looking to have our product available for sale. At present we are open to partnering with on and off sale premises for "tastings" and we will be happy to book appointments with any on or off site premise buyers looking to taste our product and learn more about how they can partner with us.
